jake-jeremy.jpgIntroduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Jake, I play bass for Suffolk punk band Paper Champ and I also co-run Red Label Records & Distro. Please buy my things.

What was your introduction to punk?

Territorial Pissings from Nirvana’s Nevermind album. It was unlike anything I’d ever heard and it lead me to finding more of the same. After that it was British bands like 7 Day Conspiracy, Snuff and Whitmore.

If you could be in any band in the world (past or present), which band would you choose and why?

Miles Davis’ from the Kind of Blue era, I’d get to play the So What bass line every night.

You’ve got unlimited funds, a time machine and any venue you fancy, but you can only book three bands. Who do you book for your ultimate gig?

Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue era obviously: I’d get John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Jimmy Cobb and Paul Chambers in one lineup! I like jazz – sue me. Then I’d go for a DJ Shadow Entroducing set and finally Propagandhi… because they’re Propagandhi. The venue can be literally anywhere in Tokyo, because I’ve always wanted to go to Japan and now I have unlimited funds to get me there.

You’re on an aeroplane that’s about to crash. What do you put on your iPod?

Free Fallin’ by Tom Petty.
