Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Joëlle, Belgian with an ever changing accent (currently still Scottish). Punk rock enthusiast and frequent flyer to gigs all over Europe and occasionally a bit further. In whatever spare time I have left I co-run a distro and record label: Less Talk, More Records. I am also part of the Lockjaw Records crew, looking after their social media. I like my punk-rock fast and technical.

What was your introduction to punk?

Mainly late 90s/early 2000s MTV feat. Blink 182, The Offspring, Millencolin but also lots of nu metal. My older brother got us Tony Hawk Pro Skater (3 in our case) when I was 11. That game and soundtrack were my favourite thing in the world back then. I started going to gigs and festivals when I was 15 and since then it’s been pretty constant. Groezrock especially had a major influence on my taste in music.

If you could be in any band in the world (past or present), which band would you choose and why?

I have never really thought of myself in a band as I have zero musical talent… My favourite bands are perfect as they are, I think me joining them would only ruin it.

But if I were to start my own band I’d like to have a shot at singing and my dream lineup would consist of Dave Gourlay on guitar, Chris Brown or Chris Mason on 2nd guitar, Brian Robinson on bass, Alessandro Gavazzi on drums and Tom West on backing vocals. [Ed: That’s a mash-up of No Contest / The Affect Heuristic / Darko / Almeida / The Fullblast / A Wilhelm Scream / Thousand Oaks / Jet Market / Dead Market / Bedtime for Charlie… Phew!].

If anyone decides to form a band with this line-up before me, I will hunt you down. You have been warned.

You’ve got unlimited funds, a time machine and any venue you fancy, but you can only book three bands. Who do you book for your ultimate gig?

Propagandhi, After The Fall, Rebuke.  I don’t even have to go back in time. Major money saver!

You’re on an aeroplane that’s about to crash. What do you put on your iPod?

The FullblastJames Eats Planet; Loves PCP. Always. My favourite song in the entire world. It gives me all the feels.

You can catch Joëlle in person at many of the punk festivals around Europe and further afield. Keep an eye out for the Less Talk, More Records distro (part of the PNK RCKR collective); they’ve got oodles of exciting new albums for you to discover. Follow them on Facebook and Bandcamp.
